You’ve Got to Work!

by Julie on March 5, 2010 · 0 comments

When we talk about “work ethic” what comes to mind?

Typically, we are groomed to punch in at 9:00 AM and punch out at 5:00 PM.

That’s convention. That’s what’s expected – no more, no less.

BORING!

Can you honestly think of an example of a person who has achieved great things by just going through the motions?

I can’t.

People who do great things have unrelenting work ethics – that’s a fact.

These are the folks that run when others walk, who stay up while everyone else sleeps, and who push forward when their peers fall back.

I’d like to share two items in this post which explore the topic of work ethic and the connection to greatness.

The first item is another fab article by blogger Seth Godin:

“I don’t feel like it”

The second is a YouTube compilation video of the legendary Will Smith.

It is not often that a celebrity really impresses me with their attitude, morals, and personal belief structure. As it turns out, Will is a tremendous guy with an outstanding work ethic.

Check it out:

Dreams are funny things – they don’t come to fruition without lazer sharp focus, passion, courage, and of course lots and lots of hard work.
When you have a goal in mind you owe it to yourself to make it happen.
Think about it.
Whenever you [...]

Depending on how you look at any given situation, you can choose to see your circumstance as either sour or sweet.

Following my post titled Our Most Powerful Word  – “No”
I felt strongly that a counter post was warranted.  So, in the spirit of fairness, balance, democracy and equality – here it is.

Are you indecisive, waffling, unsure, or uncommitted?
You may be tired, confused, scattered or you may be just sitting on the fence.
That’s fine – fence sitting has it’s usefulness, especially when you are information gathering before making a big decision. [e.g. should I rent or own, practice or rest, run or walk, study or work? etc [...]
