<i>When women come together for a cause it is powerful. It was a very special day when all of these women and young girls volunteered this day to dance their heart’s out and to share a special woman in their life. Our team at Special Event Boot Camp was honoured to help out behind the scenes. Kim’s is on a mission and is is simple everyone can help and nominate an amazing woman in your life!</i>

Oh - I'd love to see your picture of the cliff (your landscape shots are stunning!)

Let me know if/when it makes an appearance on your website and I'll be sure to check it out.

Keep up the great work Shary (even if it is into the wee hours of the morning)!

Here's to shaping our destiny and creating more "it was meant to be" moments.

Onward!

Thanks Julie.

Shhhhh! I just finished printing a beautiful Cliff in B/W. My wife is sleeping now ;)

Photographer should be a good visual composer.... S/he does not compose music, but should try his/her best to create visual poetry of our environment and people.

Cheers!

Thanks for your note Shary - and for posting your link!

You know, I think photographers are some of the most amazing people on this great earth.

Photographers capture the most cherished moments of our existence, which brings joy to viewers of the work for years, and even for generations, to come.

I can see by the way you write about your craft, work at your craft, and develop your skills that you sincerely love what you do. What a fabulous way to lead a life!

Here's to more hard work, more passion and more supportive spouses :) If we had more of these things, the world would be a much happier place!

It was meant to be?

I should also say Hmmmmm.

When we have passion for an activity, art, science etc. we tend to desire to be immersed in it. We enjoy doing it and even without knowing we work hard at it.

If you ask me why I am so crazy about photography, I have to say when I wake up in the morning I feel the passion for this art. When I see an event, landscape, person etc, I feel the desire to capture it on film or CMOS. And, I cannot even sleep well until I create the final image and look at it critically (brutally critically). Just ask my supportive wife ;)

If I am not satisfied with my work, I work on the captured image again and print it again and again and again until I see what I previsualized at the time of photography. If I am not happy, I destroy the print and go back to the location to recapture the image from a different vantage point, at a different time of day, or whatever I think will help give me the final image I previsualize. If it is an event, my accumulated experiences over years help me to capture the emotions, actions etc. It happens only once and I don't want to miss the emotion/expression in the face of the dancer, bride, politician etc.

Summary of what I do and love doing, my passion:

http://imagingevolution.com/slideshows/Introductory/YouTubeVersion.html

Hard work and desire for perfection is supported by pure passion... Nothing is meant to be unless we have done our best with love for it. Lucky moments are random and rare.

Cheers!

You are absolutely right!

Science is very powerful. As I mentioned before, compare our knowledge now with that of our ancestors 500 years ago. We would look supernatural beings to them (or beings from a different world or Gods).

The more we will know about our biological functions (in particular brain functions) and the more technology advances, the more likely we can create the unknown.

Cheers!

What was science fiction yesterday, is a fact today.

It seems that given enough time and money nothing is impossible.

Arthur C. Clarke says that "sufficiently advanced technologies are indistinguishable from magic..."

Tomorrow will be magical.

The day after tomorrow -- the Singularity, is the unknown unknowable...

Hey Nikola,

My answer is based on what we can do today or what we are close to do today.

If a Robot is programmed and has hardware+ programmed software that can simulate human thinking as well as being self-conscience and have feelings, then we are talking about creatures created by us. If that happens, I have no problem with it. Once we understand how self-consciousness is generated in human brain, we will probably be able to create such robots. At this time, we are trying to figure out how neuronal networks interact and I think our research is still in its infancy.

The person with prosthetic limb is still a person though. S/he is uses his/her brain to dance even if s/he has a prosthetic limb.

In general, I agree with your suggestion.

Very good points!

Cheers!

Greetings Shary,

My questions to your points are those:

1. What if the robot dancer looks perfectly identical to a human dancer and you don't know that it is a robot? How will that change your perception?

2. What if the robot is not programmed but performs an improvised routine? (There have been robots that can compose music indistinguishable from that composed by men [Mozart not included] for some time now)

3. What if machines can become like people with their own free will, intelligence and emotions?

4. What if robots start to paint, take pictures and make movies that are equal or better to those made by us?

5. What if a person with a brain implanted chip (there are over 10,000 of those) dances, paints or takes pictures?

6. What if a person with prosthetic limbs dances?

7. What if a person with both prosthetic limbs and many brain implants does the same?

8. Where do we draw the line?

9. What is to be human anyway?

Cheers!

You raise some great points Shary!

I love your reference to your dear old friend. It seems that the older and more experienced members of our society have got it right. Many of our seniors approach life in an entirely different way...Perhaps somewhere along the line of life we all come to realize that life is too short to sweat the small stuff (hopefully sooner rather than later).

Thanks also for the tidbits on the functionality/mechanics of the brain. I know you are a photographer by profession, but I bet you'd make a fabulous doctor too ;)

Best to you always! J

Mother of a friend of mine is over 95 years old. She is very bright and always reads books, watches TV, goes to theatre, analyzes her experiences etc. She even drives and always smiles.

She told me in her British accent: "Most of the bad things you think will happen to you will not."

Indeed, depression and anxiety can be unrealistic yet they feel real. Lets think about our past anxieties and sadnesses. When we lose a loved one, we are sad and the feeling has an external real cause that has actually happened. On average, the intense sadness takes about two to three weeks (otherwise, it can be considered pathological). But, many times the sadness as well as anxiety are only in our heads.

When pathological, the mid section of anterior parts of our brains (called cingulate cortex) manifests abnormal activity in neuroimaging analysis.

So, always think of my over 95 year old friend and tell yourself, with British accent if you wish ;) , "most of the bad things I think are going to happen to me will not", I have had this kind of feelings before!!

Cheers!
