Further to my “Don’t be Afraid to Fail” post ~
Have you ever heard the saying:
“Ideas belong to those who implement them?”
If you’ve got an idea you need to do one thing and one thing only…
GET GOING!
In other words, IMPLEMENT!
If you look back in history, no one remembers the guy or gal who thought of a great invention.
We only know of the ideas which come to fruition, and not the ideas that never came to be.
If you’re sitting on an idea right now, it is your responsibility to act, before someone else does.
I’d like to share an amazing blog post authored by Jonathan Morrow via copyblogger which explores this topic further:
The Alexander Graham Bell Guide to Changing the World
One of the most successful Canadian businesses of all time “Cirque du Soleil” was founded by someone who had an idea, which he implemented. And then he had a series of ideas, which he implemented. And NOW we know “him” to be CDS founder Guy Laliberte.
So, what would the wonderful world of circus be like today without the ripple effects created by Cirque? It’s hard to say…
Good thing Guy got off his fire-breathing busker-going rump to put in the energy and effort required to implement.
Check out Seth Godin‘s “Quieting the Lizard Brain” presentation for further inspiration on this topic:
“It’s not about ideas. It’s about making ideas happen.”
